Senior Deputy District Attorney Susana T. Salgado has been employed as a prosecutor in the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office since October 1992. Ms. Salgado was born in Calexico, California and attended local school. After graduating from high school, Ms. Salgado attended Imperial Valley College. She subsequently transferred to the University of California, San Diego. Ms. Salgado obtained her law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
In her twenty years with the Imperial County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Salgado has prosecuted misdemeanors and as well as felony cases. In addition, Ms. Salgado has also prosecuted civil commitment cases such as Sexually Violent Predator cases, Mentally Disordered Offender cases, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity cases as well as cases dealing with competency issues.
Ms. Salgado is active with the California District Attorney Association and currently participates in the Sexually Violent Predator Committee, Sexual Assault Committee and the Domestic Violence Committee. In addition she has volunteered her time working with Calexico High School in the Imperial County Mock Trial Program for over ten years.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Sidney Hester, Sr., has been employed as a prosecutor in the Imperial County District Attorney's Office Since December 1995. Mr. Hester was born in El Centro, California, and attended local schools. After graduating from high school, he attend both University of California, Berkley, and San Jose State University. Mr. Hester obtained his law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, 1991.
Mr. Hester began his career as a prosecutor in the Family Support Division of the Imperial County District Attorney's Office and was later transferred to the criminal division where he has prosecuted both misdemeanors and felonies. He has prosecuted all levels of drug cases, ranging from simple possession cases to the more complex conspiracy cases involving the importation of controlled substances. In 2006, Mr. Hester was the recipient of the CNOA's Attorney of the Year Award for State of California for his work in Operations Banshee, Accelerator, and Imperial Emperor. He has provided training to many local law enforcement agencies on both Fourth Amendment issues and search warrants.
Mr. Hester is active with the California District Attorney Association and currently participates in the Victim Rights Committee, Lifer-Parole Committee, and the Legislative Committee. In addition, he has been a Mock Trial Scoring Attorney with the Imperial County Mock Trial Program since 1992.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Heather Trapnell has been employed as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Imperial since 2004. During her time with the District Attorney’s Office, she has prosecuted cases ranging from misdemeanors to murders.
In 2011, Ms. Trapnell was awarded the Rural County Outstanding Prosecutor of the Year Award by the California District Attorneys Association. Ms. Trapnell is currently the supervisor of the District Attorney’s state prison prosecution unit and the narcotics unit.
Ms. Trapnell received her law degree from the University of California Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2001. She was awarded her Bachelors of Arts in political science from the University of California, San Diego in 1996. Prior to joining the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Trapnell worked as a litigation associate at Latham and Watkins in San Diego.
