Statement of Service

We will provide quality services through staff excellence, good management, teamwork and cooperative efforts. The public has entrusted us with responsibilities that we will strive to perform at an optimum level.

We will treat our clients with courtesy and respect. We value our clients for their intrinsic worth as human beings and respect their inherent rights as individuals.

We will encourage self-sufficiency, independence and responsibility. Helping others better themselves will benefit the individual and family. It will also help build stronger future generations.

We will be responsive to community needs and concerns. Feedback from the community, including complaints, will be considered a positive method for identifying service needs and deficiencies so that we can improve and correct them.

We will be leaders in the field of social services. As a department, we want to be respected by the community, a catalyst for regional improvement, an advocate in all aspects of social services and a state and national resource of innovative social service.

The mission of the Imperial County Department of Social Services is to provide assistance to the County’s needy and disadvantaged individuals and families so they may live their lives with dignity and respect.

We strive to improve the quality of the lives of the members of our community. As a department, we intervene and alleviate crisis situations by:

¨ Providing care, protection and preventive services to vulnerable children;

¨ Providing the basic essentials of food, clothing, shelter and medical care access to needy individuals and families;

¨ Fostering economic independence by assisting individuals and families to become self-sufficient through education, job training and placement;

¨ Providing protective and in-home supportive services to adults.

Our department is committed to being an innovative leader in providing quality social services to those individuals and families in Imperial County needing our services.

Through a collaborative effort with other agencies and organizations, our department will maximize effective delivery of services in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible.

Our staff will treat our clients with respect and dignity while striving to improve the quality of their lives.

We will reach out to all communities in the valley in an effort to provide targeted and appropriate services whenever possible.
